I recently went on a quick day trip to Providence to see the WaterFire event (more on that later), but made sure to stop by the RISD Museum first. Don't let it's size fool you, the museum is wonderfully curated with an impressive assortment of ancient sculptures, impressionist paintings, contemporary art, and costumes and textiles. Currently, the museum has a massive exhibit of Todd Oldham's whimsical, kitschy, and colorful designs that will send any fashion lover into sensory overload. Every piece was more intricate and intriguing than the next. I especially loved reading how each piece came with a unique story from a dress inspired by has childhood love of Lite-Brite to a sweater inspired by après ski, each design was truly a labor of love and work of art.
The Todd Oldham exhibit is open until September 11!
