If you follow me on Instagram, you might notice some of my "study break sketches" dispersed throughout my feed. While I've never really been formally trained in drawing except for a few classes here and there growing up, I do enjoy some creative sketching sessions as a quick diversion from hours of number crunching homework.
Thanks to a series of messages from friends, I became aware of the current Kenneth Paul Block exhibit at the MFA on display until August 2016. One of the most iconic fashion illustrators of the 20th century, Block is known for his illustrations of fashion trends, society portraits, and celebrities featured in Women’s Wear Daily and W Magazine from the 1950s-1990s. The amount of detail in his simple charcoal, watercolor, or colored pencils sketches are truly astounding— and even more so in person.
