Over Labor Day weekend, a group of friends and I decided to head to Portland, Maine to soak up the last days of summer. From the abundance of local lobstah joints to the rocky seaside and picture perfect lighthouse, I couldn't have asked for a better New England coastal adventure. I only wish we had more time to explore Maine's beautiful scenery.
What: Rocky shorelines with soaring views, the iconic Portland Head Lighthouse, lobster rolls,
and a quaint city with lots of nautical charm similar to Portsmouth, NH.
Where: Portland, ME
Scarborough Fish & Lobster Co— it's a tiny little shack of a place along the road,
but has delicious $10 lobster rolls and fried clams!
Mount Desert— there nectarine champagne sorbet was amazing, but Obama
has apparently gone with coconut.
Holy Donut— Honestly, one of the lightest and non greasy donuts I've ever had. I
really think that Maine potato in them makes a difference.
Wear: Bean boots to keep your feet dry while climbing the rocky shoreline
Why: You can't get any more iconic New England than Portland.
Tyro Tip: Visit the Portland Head Lighthouse before dusk to catch the sunset.
