“Can’t repeat the past?…Why of course you can!” — The Great Gatsby
For a few hours last Sunday, I felt as if I had been magically transported back to the roaring 20s at the Jazz Age Lawn Party. My friend David and I boarded the ferry to Governor's Island dressed to impress in our best Zelda and F. Scott Fitzgerald attire (I'd also like to note a woman on the street thought we were going to the beach haha). I had seen photos of this iconic summer event for years and had always filed it in the back of my mind as another experience on the bucket list. It was thrilling simply people watching and taking note of everyone's often highly intricate and historically accurate costume. Unfortunately, I didn't see the famous Bill Cunningham taking any street style photos, but I did feel as if I had stepped into lawn party that would have made even Gatsby proud.
