Advice for a College Tyro: Positivity

Sometimes, there are those moments in life when things are really tough.
Well, I've admittedly been going through some of these tough times in life right now where
things are complicated, kinda messy, and just plain rough. It's even harder because its things I
don't even have any control over, (the worst feeling in the world for a type A girl like me). I'm a big believer in perseverance though, and through this rough patch I've tried my best to be positive and persevere.

Staying positive when your world seems blue can be one of the most challenging things in the world, but these recent tough times have actually been a happy reminder of why a positive attitude really is the only way to live your life. One thing I've been reminded of? Gratitude. There are so many things I am thankful for, but sometimes you can easily get swept up in the have and have-nots. Through this tough time though, I have once again been reminded how much I have to be grateful, big or small.

During these past few days, everywhere I looked seemed to be signs reminding me to be more grateful and positive to get through this rough patch. From reading the news and getting chills from this story and seeing a double rainbow, I've become even more grateful for the simplest things in my life. I've certainly been tested, but instead of feeling sorry for myself, envying what others might have, or hiding under the covers, I have challenged myself to remain on the bright side. And, despite this difficult time, I have never felt richer in the things that matter: love, support, and kindness.

Yesterday, I was overjoyed to receive a totally unrelated, out of the blue opportunity I never in a million years thought I would receive (but can't yet tell). While this doesn't change the current situation in any shape or form, I'm taking it as a sign to always be more positive and grateful even when tough times come to knock you down.

"When life puts you in tough situations, don't say "why me",  just say "try me".
