Advice for a Career Tyro: Take a Chance

Last semester turned out to be extremely rewarding in more ways than I
could have ever imagined. I can honestly say I was blessed to have had so
many new and inspiring experiences. Even those rare yet eye-opening
(read: semi-existential crisis) moments helped me grow not just a student,
 but as an individual.

My schedule this semester is very different from last fall. Not necessarily in a bad
way, but I was left with some really big gaps in my schedule. For weeks I waffled about
trying to get an internship. It seems like every upperclassman I know has had like seven
by senior year, but I really wasn't sure if it was do-able and even possible to have one during freshman year. At first, I primarily doubted my skills: what business would even want to
interview a freshman? I also tried to make excuses why I shouldn't go for it. I had found my
stride by the end of last semester: should I remain comfortable or push myself to take a chance?

At the end of the day, the negative thoughts I had created didn't outweigh the positive possibilities.

One thing I have discovered since last semester is that life isn't meant to be stagnant and neither are we. Sure we find our little routines and traditions, but life is ever-changing and as individuals, we are born to keep evolving and changing with it. It's natural to have our fears and doubts, but we should never let them hinder us from learning and growing.

I took a "shot" and "scored" as an intern at UsTrendy, one of the best independent e-commerce fashion websites for indie clothing. Already I have learned so many new skills and experience.
While I realize the shots we take in life do not always turn out the way we want them to, you'll
never know unless you try.
And then try again.

I might not be great at math, but the odds
will eventually be in your favor-
and you will score.
